1. Who we are
Fable & Fondant Candy Atelier is an independent confectionery editorial project based at 418 NW Tin Pan Alley, Studio 3, Bend, Oregon 97701, United States. Throughout this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Fable & Fondant Candy Atelier, and “this site” refers to the pages published under this domain.
We publish articles, flavor guides, temperature tables and illustrated features about candy craft. We do not sell candy, subscription boxes, advertising placements or reader data through this site.
2. What we collect
This site is a set of static pages. There is no account system, no checkout, no comment section, no contact form and no newsletter signup. We do not ask you for a name, an address, a phone number, a payment detail or a date of birth, and we could not store one if you offered it.
The full list of information involved when you read this site is short:
- Your cookie preference. One
localStorageentry records whether you pressed “Got it” or “Decline” on the notice banner, so the banner does not reappear on every page you open. - Ordinary technical logs. Our hosting provider records standard request information such as an abbreviated IP address, browser user agent and the page requested. These logs exist to keep the site online and are not used to build profiles or to identify individual readers.
- Nothing else. No analytics scripts, no advertising pixels, no social plug-ins, no embedded videos, no external fonts and no third-party JavaScript of any kind are loaded by these pages.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We do not set advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not use tracking pixels, web beacons, fingerprinting scripts or cross-site identifiers. The only browser-side memory this site creates is the cookie-consent preference described below, which is stored in your browser’s local storage rather than as a network cookie that travels with every request.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
ffCandyConsentV1 |
localStorage key | Remembers whether you accepted or declined the notice banner. Stores the words “accepted” or “declined” and nothing else. | Until you clear your browser data |
| Server request logs | Hosting log | Keeps the site available and defends against abuse. Not readable by us as individuals. | Short rolling window set by the host |
Because the consent banner is the only thing that writes to your device, declining it changes nothing about how the site works. The articles, widgets and illustrations all remain available.
4. Local storage in detail
Local storage is a small key-and-value store built into every modern browser. Unlike a cookie, its contents
are never sent to a server; they stay on your device and can be read only by pages from the same origin.
We use exactly one key, ffCandyConsentV1, with one of two possible values.
- Why we use it: so a reader who has already dismissed the notice is not shown it again on the next page.
- What it cannot do: identify you, follow you to another site, or reveal anything about your browsing history.
- How to remove it: clear site data in your browser settings, or use a private window so the entry disappears when the window closes.
5. Third parties and outbound links
The pages you are reading are self-contained. Every image is an original illustration published with the article, every style is served locally, and no requests leave this site for a content delivery network, a font service, an analytics platform or an advertising exchange.
Articles may describe ingredients, tools or techniques by name. We do not include affiliate links, paid placements or sponsored redirects. If we ever publish an editorial recommendation, it is because the kitchen actually used the thing.
6. Your rights
Privacy laws in various jurisdictions — including the California Consumer Privacy Act and the EU General Data Protection Regulation, where they apply — give readers rights over their personal information. Because we do not collect personal information through this site, most of those rights are satisfied automatically. In particular:
- Access and portability: there is no reader profile to retrieve or export.
- Deletion: clearing your browser storage removes the only record we ever caused to exist on your device.
- Opt-out of sale or sharing: we have never sold or shared reader information, and we do not run cross-context behavioural advertising.
- Non-discrimination: declining the notice banner has no effect on what you can read.
If you believe we hold information about you — for example because you wrote to us by email — you can ask us to confirm, correct or delete it, and we will answer within thirty days.
7. Retention
Email correspondence is kept only as long as it is useful for the editorial conversation, and never longer than twenty-four months. Hosting logs are retained on the short cycle set by our provider and are not archived. The consent preference remains on your device until you remove it.
8. Children
This is a general-audience editorial site about candy making, and it is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and there is nothing on the site that asks for it. Recipes involving hot sugar are written for adult supervision.
9. Changes to this policy
If the site ever adds a feature that touches reader information, this policy will be updated before that feature ships, and the review date at the top of the page will change. The current version has been in force since the date shown above.
10. Contact
Questions about privacy, storage or this policy can be sent to fableandfondant.candy@gmail.com, or by post to Fable & Fondant Candy Atelier, 418 NW Tin Pan Alley, Studio 3, Bend, OR 97701, United States. We answer reader mail during studio hours, Tuesday to Saturday.
